WACO (February 15, 2013) -- The McLennan Highlassies opened the MCC Classic with a 3-2 win over the Galveston Whitecaps Friday at Bosque River Ballpark.

MCC began the scoring with one run in the bottom of the first inning as Natali Duron drew a walk, stole second and scored on a double by Abby White.

Galveston’s two runs came in the top of the third. Heather Wilson singled and Alexis Dunn was hit by the pitch. Ally Johnson followed with a double to score Wilson and Dunn.

The Highlassies tied the game with one run in the bottom of the third as White walked and scored on a triple by Tiffany Birdwell.

MCC sealed the win in the fourth inning as Audrey Calvo singled and scored on a double by Duron.

The Highlassies will continue play in MCC Classic Saturday, facing Galveston at 10 a.m. and Kilgore at 4 p.m.
