(June 25, 2014) The Baylor Lady Bears have been one of the hottest women's basketball teams in the country over the last several years, but over the past week, they've been cooling off and all for a good cause.
Lady Bears head coach Kim Mulkey took part in the "Chillin' 4 Charity" challenge on Wednesday.
The challenge is meant to raise money for the Kay Yow cancer fund. Sports figures challenge one another to have a bucket of ice water dumped on themselves.
If the challenge is accepted, the person who made the request donates $50 to the Kay Yow fund. But if someone fails to meet the challenge, they are encouraged to donate $250 to the fund.
Mulkey was challenged by USC head coach Cynthia Cooper.
Mulkey's teammates dumped a 5-gallon cooler full of ice water on Mulkey and then threw her into the swimming pool.
"Breast cancer, cancer in general affects all of us," Mulkey said. "My mother and grandmother are survivors of breast cancer, but Kay Yow, it means a lot to all of us. I think it's a neat idea to whoever started it and I'll do my part."
