ALLIANCE, OH (December 8, 2012) -- The Mary Hardin-Baylor football team's season came to an end with a 48-35 loss to Mount Union in the NCAA division three national semifinals Saturday.
The Cru took a 28-14 lead over No. 1 Mount Union at halftime, but the Raiders scored twice in less than a minute to begin the fourth quarter to tie the game at 28.
The 28-14 deficit was the first time Mount Union trailed at halftime, outside of the Stagg Bowl, since 2005.
The Cru forced five turnovers on the day and forced a fumble midway through the fourth quarter that led to a go-ahead touchdown that made it 35-28 with six minutes to play.
After the Raiders tied it with 3:42 to play, UMHB was forced to punt after a three-and-out. Mount Union then marched downfield and scored with five seconds to play to take a 42-35 lead.
On the final play of the game, UMHB turned it over on a lateral attempt and it was returned for a touchdown as time expired.
This will be Mount Union's eighth straight appearance in the Stagg Bowl.
UMHB ends the season 13-1.
