BELTON (September 23, 2012) -- University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football players LiDarral Bailey and Alex Kemp have been named American Southwest Conference Players of the Week for their performances in the Cru’s 49-28 victory over Trinity University Saturday night. Bailey took Offensive Player of the Week honors while Kemp took Defensive Player of the Week.
Bailey, a senior quarterback from Bremond High School, completed 14-16 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns and he added 43 rushing yards and two scores on four carries. Bailey completed his first ten passes and did all of his damage in the first half, leading UMHB to a 42-7 halftime lead before sitting out the second half.
Kemp, a freshman defensive end from Smithson Valley High School, had five tackles, three sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss for UMHB. He also forced a fumble on one of those sacks, leading directly to a Cru touchdown.
UMHB is now 3-0 on the season and is ranked #2 in the country in both national polls. The Cru will open ASC play with a 1:00 PM kickoff at Sul Ross State University this Saturday in Alpine. The Lobos are 1-2 on the year.
