UMHB Women's Soccer Picked 8th In ASC Poll

Belton (August 20, 2013) -- The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s soccer team has been picked to finish eighth in the American Southwest Conference in the league’s annual Preseason Coaches Poll. The Cru totaled 106 points in balloting of the league’s coaches and sports information directors after finishing ninth in the league last season.

Hardin-Simmons was predicted to win its 11th consecutive and 16th overall conference title with 239 points and 19 first-place votes. Texas-Tyler received two first-place votes and 218 points for a second-place prediction. Two-time conference champion Texas-Dallas was picked third with 188 points and one first-place vote. Mississippi College received 187 points as the coaches’ choice to finish fourth and East Texas Baptist rounded out the top five with 136 points. Concordia Texas was picked sixth with 125 points while Howard Payne’s 112 points predicted them seventh. Louisiana College was ninth with 68 points, LeTourneau was picked 10th with 44 points and Ozarks was predicted to finish in 11th with 29 points.

Mississippi College junior Macey Lee was chosen the 2013 Offensive Player of the Year while Hardin-Simmons senior Courtney Cramer was voted the 2013 Defensive Player of the Year

The Cru finished 6-8-2 overall and 3-7-2 in conference play last season. Head Coach Barry Elkins Bankhead welcomes back 13 letter winners and seven starters from last year’s team this season. The UMHB women will open the 2013 with a 2 p.m. match at Texas Lutheran on Aug. 30th.
