Belton - University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball player Rebekah Ragsdale has been named American Southwest Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 8th.
Ragsdale, a junior right-hander from West Orange-Stark High School, went 2-0 with a save in leading UMHB to a series victory over a Hardin-Simmons squad that had been unbeaten in ASC West Division play. She tossed a pair of complete game victories and then set down the Cowgirls in order winning the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position to nail down a save and preserve the Cru’s 1-0 victory in the series finale. Ragsdale struck out 11 batters over 15 innings of work in that series.
The UMHB softball team improved to 21-12 overall and 17-3 in ASC West Division play with the series win over HSU. The Cru will return to action with a four-game series at Schreiner University this weekend in Kerrville. UMHB can wrap up the ASC West Division title and clinch a first round bye in the ASC Championship Tournament with a sweep of the Mountaineers.
