Belton (April 18, 2012) -- The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s golf team climbed three spots to #7 in the nation in this week’s Golf World/Nike Golf Division III Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The UMHB women totaled 392 points in this week’s poll to move up from #10 in the country in the previous ranking. Methodist University holds down the top spot with 21 first-place votes and 549 total points. The Cru is one of two American Southwest Conference teams ranked in the latest poll. U.T.-Tyler is ranked 14th with 268 total points.
The Cru women are coming off another American Southwest Conference Championship. UMHB posted a 31-stroke victory at the ASC Championship Tournament yesterday in Lufkin to record an ASC record ninth league title. That victory also clinched a berth in the NCAA Division III National Championships for UMHB. The 2012 NCAA Division III Women’s Golf National Championship will be played May 8-11 at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.
