UT Players Won’t Be Charged In Alleged Sexual Assault

AUSTIN (January 24, 2013)--No charges will be filed against two University of Texas football players suspended after a reported sexual assault at a San Antonio hotel before the Alamo Bowl.

Bexar County First Assistant District Attorney Cliff Herberg said charges will not be filed against quarterback Case McCoy and linebacker Jordan Hicks and the San Antonio Express-News reported that police say the investigation is closed.

Coach Mack Brown suspended McCoy and Hicks the day before the Dec. 29 Alamo Bowl after a 21-year-old woman told police she was drinking alcohol and assaulted after inviting two men to her room.

A lawyer for Hicks said the incident was consensual.

Brown reinstated McCoy and Hicks on Jan. 13 after lawyers for the players said police told them the case would be dropped.

Texas beat Oregon State 31-27 in the Alamo Bowl.
