1 - So how's YOUR bracket? Mine WAS decent. And then they started playing the games. I actually picked 11 out of 16 sweet sixteen teams correctly, with one major issue. You'll probably stop reading this post after I type this, but here it goes...
I picked Duke to play in the Finals. Seriously. I'm a moron. But I know this, so there is no need to post a "friendly" reminder comment below.
I thought this was their year! Apparently anyone can have a bad DECADE. Number 2 seed?! My brother's high school graduation ceremony lasted longer than Duke's '08 tournament run.
2 - Almost as disappointing as the Duke debacle was when my favorite name from this year's tournament didn't even make it to the second weekend. Wink Adams (and he's from Houston, too) plays guard for UNLV and saw his team's season end against Kansas in Round two. Not to be confused with WinkAdam, my AOL screen name when I was in high school. OMG. LOL.
3 - The last ten national champions' campuses are located in the Eastern time zone. Unless the Tar Heels win it all this year, that stat will be no more.
4 - North Carolina, UCLA, Memphis, and Kansas were 1 thru 4 in the preseason poll. In case you don't have your bracket handy, the same four teams are the only ones still playing.
5 - Since 1939, there has been no Final Four in which all four teams began with a vowel. Only one team that even made this year's sweet 16 fits that criteria. 6 - A team from the Big 12 has never won a men's basketball national title. Kansas needs to get past its old coach to have a shot at breaking that streak.
7 - Stanford, Tennessee, Louisville, and North Carolina had teams in both the men's and women's sweet 16. Duke did not, and it's not because their women didn't make it.
