I just wanted to use this (cyber) space to wish my Mom, Kathy, a very happy Mother's Day.
Yes, I know, this is supposed to be a blog about sports. And this one is, too. Because I can promise you that I would not have the opportunity to write about sports or talk about them on television had it not been for the sacrifices my wonderful Mom made for me when I was growing up.
Whether it was up staying up late washing my uniform, or coming home early to get me to practice, or spending weekends at tournaments in Texas metropolises like Troupe and Abilene - Mom never complained. She knew sports were my passion, and never let anything get in the way of that. And it's because of the time I spend on and around the field and the court as a youngster, that I'm still in love with sports today.
Now, my Dad was there every single step of the way, too - and he deserves a ton of credit as well. But he'll have his holiday in June, this one's for Mom.
So...to my Mom, as well as my Grandmothers Bette and Mary Helen, and to all of those Moms out there - THANK YOU for what you do. Enjoy your day.
