What ever happened to a dog being man's best friend?!  Apparently, the umpire at last night's Single-A baseball game between the Greensboro Grasshoppers and the Asheville Tourists is a cat person.

For what is believed to be the first time in baseball history, a DOG was ejected from a game.

Yogi Berra, the Grasshoppers' Bat Dog was apparently "battling a stomach virus and fever" last night (dogs can have a fever?).  After fetching a ball in center field between innings, on his way back to the home dugout, Yogi called for number two - and no, he wasn't telling the pitcher to throw the curve ball.

"Yogi’s had a tough start to his season, and I hope this doesn’t get him down. He clearly couldn’t control himself out there."

Poor sick dog. But to quote Yogi "Congratulations. I knew the record would stand until it was broken." Between this and the Atlanta Hawk's mascot delaying the game, it's not a good week for live mascots!
