I was born and raised in the Oklahoma City area, and I have strong feelings about my hometown.  I love the people, I love the restaurants, I love the attractions, and now I love it's NBA team.

Speaking of the team, the franchise announced that their nickname is going to be the Thunder (and yes, that means Thunderstruck by AC/DC will be played at every game).  I like the nickname.  It wasn't my first choice, but I actually think it's going to workout.  Not everyone in OKC agrees.  Some say it's silly to name a team after the weather.  That may be true, but I don't think anyone was making fun of the Miami Heat's name when they were holding up an NBA championship trophy.

Some of the other names in consideration were: Wind, Energy, Thunderbirds, Barons, Marshals.  Of those choices, I like Barons.  What do you think?  Do you like Thunder as a nickname for OKC's team?  What would you have chosen?
