NASA recently sent two unmanned spacecrafts to the Moon (LRO and LCROSS), in order to collect new data about the Moon. The LCROSS spacecraft is now sending back streaming video to Earth as it swings past the Moon. NASA has that video on their website, along with audio from Mission Control. It takes the video a few minutes to load, but it is interesting to watch |

Anon, I am quite impressed by the extent of your knowledge on this subject and offer my appology. Based on your previous statements you appeared to be less informed than you obviously are. I must say i fully disagree with the government and the underlying plot to mine the moon for minerals which would undoubtedly destroy earth as we know it. However I do think that this mission is of value. I while join in any fight to stop us from exploiting the moon but using it as a tool to further our own knowledge, usable in other fields, is acceptable. I am curious to know of any groups/clubs such as astronomy you are involved with as I would like to pick your brain. We seem to be reading the same book but on different pages. Posted by: Anonymous nasa documentation on the impacts:10. Moon Echoes: On November 20, 1969, the Apollo 12 crew jettisoned the lunar module ascent stage causing it to crash onto the moon. The LM’s impact (about 40 miles from the Apollo 12 landing site) created an artificial moonquake with startling characteristics—the moon reverberated like a bell for more than an hour. This phenomenon was repeated with Apollo 13 (intentionally commanding the third stage to impact the moon), with even more startling results. Seismic instruments recorded that the reverberations lasted for three hours and twenty minutes and traveled to a depth of twenty-five miles, leading to the conclusion that the moon has an unusually light—or even no—core. Posted by: Anonymous here is some quotes from nasa back in the 60's when the first expeditions were sent to the moon, and the results there of, of foreing objects crashing into the moon's surface. there is a treaty that is supposed to protect celestial bodies from this type of destructive probing and careless action. the moon is quite important for the opeation of the earth's seasons, tidal movements, natural time progression and analysis by other living entities (birds etc.) for nasa to do this without revealing to the public what its true destructive intentions are, is criminal. and to "b" in waco: are you wacked out or did you forget to take your medicine?, i am not a fearmonger, as i am a vet and a patriot, i told the facts as i read them and you are either co-intel-pro for nasa/gvt/or your are just plain ignorant. you are the one who is telling untruths by attemtping to eviscerate the importance of my messages, so shutup with your propoganda. Posted by: rocket-man Location: houston/we have a problem To anon: thanks for the info, your intel seems to be accurate except that the rocket casing is 5 tons and will leave a crater 5 miles widexdeep, now thats some damage. for you others , anon is not a "chicken little,he is simply trying to inform you about the not so honest goings-on of our government. why the hell bomb the moon anyway?, they say its to check for water vapor?, hell they got fancy instruments that can measure that without all the cost and damage. this thing nasa is doing smells like a ratt, and looks like one too. thanks anon, for caring enuff to share this info with your fellow texans, to me you seem to be very well read & informed and not a scaremonger, but a truthseeker. Posted by: B Location: Waco Anon, are you serious? We are not trying to shoot down the moon and the impact will not alter the seasons (which have nothing to do with the moon, but instead the axis tilt of the earth in relation to the sun although granted the moon helps stabilize our spin) nor the tidal forces caused by the moon. The impact from this mission will be softer and less abrasive than meteor strikes the moon absorbs quite frequently. You have fallen victim to those who prey upon fear and ignorance. what you are telling is not the truth I'm sorry to say. Please do more research on the subject outside of google as you seem to be very zealous about the subject and should be more informed. Although it also appears you may be one of those who prey upon fear in the hopes of scaring others into your train of thought so that you may feel vindicated in your own fear. Posted by: Anonymous i am not rambling about anything, if you read the sentence carefully, and google the subects of my statement you will find i am telling the truth, not ramblng.seekt the truth and IT shall set you free. stop minimizing my comment you shlep. Posted by: Sunny Not sure what the above poster is rambling about, but thanks Brady for the link! Very cool pics! Other links are on the site too. Posted by: Anonymous try telling the truth: the lcross mission is designed to send a 2 ton rocket projectile crashing into the surface of the moon!, i sure hope you appreciate the 4 seasons as well as tidal swells in the ocean, all brought to you courtesy of the interaction of the moon upon the earth's orbit/gravitational interplolation. nasa should be brought up on criminal charges for destruction of a celestial body/without provacation. |
