I wasn't guaranteed a third blog. This could have been my farewell letter. Alas, both Baylor basketball teams moved on in the Big 12 Championships, I ate at Arthur Bryants, and the world continues to rotate (just a bit slower).
First, the women. Not a lot of enthusiasm from the Lady Bears until they absolutely had to. I guess that's a direct reflection of their coaches' mentality. That could hurt them today against Oklahoma, but Brittney Griner returns to the floor. I don't see any problems transitioning back to having a 6'8" player back, but it may take some time for Griner to get back into game mode. This could be the end of the road for Baylor in this tournament, but let's be honest, Coach Mulkey is ok with that.
As for the men, Texas left the court with their tails tucked in between their legs. Not only has Baylor won four straight, but the previous two have been by double digit points. I think Texas finally swallowed their pride and accepted the fact Baylor is better, and now Coach Barnes is confused and admitted he can't figure out his team. Now Baylor gets to seek some revenge on Kansas State from all the way back in January. The Bears lost by just two points, and it was determined with a foul in the last seconds. Kansas State rolled Oklahoma State yesterday, and although they executed very well, I think they caught Oklahoma State on a bad night. Baylor just imposed their will on Texas, again, and embarrassed them. The Bears haven't been swept by any opponent yet, but tonight could be the night. Baylor's got a swagger about them, though, and a win over Kansas State could shoot them up to a 2-seed, but should guarantee them at least a 3-seed in the NCAA Tournament. Is it tip-off yet?
I don't like goodbyes, here's to a fourth blog tomorrow...
