First things first, let's talk BBQ. I went to Gates BBQ my first day in town. And like I said in my first bog, I thought it was good, not great. Today I found a GREAT BBQ joint. It's called Arthur Bryant's and it is legendary in KC. We waited in line for 20 minutes, and it was well worth the wait. Just outstanding food. I ordered a turkey sandwiche. It comes piled so high with smoked turkey meat it could easily feed two people. Eating there was a wonderful experience!
Back to basketball now:
* In the first half of their game with Colorado last night, the Lady Bears looked like a team that didn't really want to be in Kansas City. But they looked like a totally different team in the second half. Kim Mulkey decided to insert some full court pressure, and it was a brilliant move. It forced a few turnovers and changed the pace of the game.
* Whitney Zachariason was big time for the Lady Bears. She has been sitting the bench most of the year. A lot of players in her position don't take that well. They pout. They sulk. Whitney did neither. All she has done is continue to work had and keep her mouth shut about sitting. And it paid off last night. Her team needed and spark, and she gave them just that, scoring a career high 17 points. Has she earned herself more playing time? Yes.
* The Baylor men look more and more like one of the ten best teams in the country right now. They are incredibly confident, and they have amazing team chemistry. That's a pretty lethal combination. I would be surprised if this team doesn't advance to at least the Sweet 16 later this month.
