King Tut in Dallas

A rare chance to see Egyptian artifacts from over 3000 years ago.

King Tut (Dallas Museum of Arts)King Tut has to be the most well know pharaoh that ever ruled Egypt.  Ever since Tutankhamun’s tomb was found intact in 1922, the interest around the world has remained high in seeing all of the amazing artifacts that were found in his tomb.

Over 50 objects from King Tut’s tomb are just up the road in Dallas.  The Dallas Museum of Arts is hosting the exhibit called Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs.  This exhibit has fifty items from King Tut’s tomb, as well as 70 items from other Egyptian tombs.

I was lucky enough to go to Dallas and see this amazing exhibit this weekend, and I would highly recommend you seeing it if you can.  This exhibit is on tour in few select cities across the country, and it will only be in Dallas until May 17th.

There are so many amazing things to see in this exhibit, and I promise you will be amazed and you will learn so much.

I do have to let you know that it is not cheap to see this exhibit, and it is a little on the crowded side.  Tickets run around 30 dollars for adults.  Proceeds generated from this tour are going to be used to help preserve Egypt’s treasures, including the construction of a new museum in Cairo where antiquities will be housed (so I guess that is why they charge so much).

Also, young children may not find this exhibit as fun as adults.  The exhibit takes at least an hour and a half to complete (it took my family about 2 hours), and with the slow pace and some reading the younger kids will likely lose interest quickly (as did my 7 month old).
