As far as I am concerned there is only one-way to hang toilet paper and that way is overhand.

This way provides the best results. I have spent many hours sitting and examining the benefits of each way and it is my conclusion that over-hand is the best way.

By placing the paper son that the sheets tear off from the top you can place a hand on top of the roll and use it to stop the roll from spinning as you pull off the exact number sheets needed.

If you hang the paper under-hand the perforations are impossible to see and you often rip the paper rather than make a clean tear.

This is not an issue that I feel all too strongly about. I do hang my toilet paper over-hand at my house, however, I do not switch the roll if it under-hand at a public bathroom or at a friend's house.

If you feel that under-hand is the better way I would love (like might be a better word here) to hear from you.

I do underhand. If you feel the outside texture of the toilet paper, it is different than the inside texture. When I tear it off, I grab with my left hand, stop the roll with my right hand, and grab to tear with my left hand, which acts as the first fold. This way, the outside ends up being the side making contact with the target, even after additional folds. If you tear overhand, you have to flip the sheet over to start folding, adding time and effort.

How interesting...I hang underhanded and my southpaw companions promptly fix it. Does Hanging the Tissue Issue reflect in anyway on your change in marital status? How about toothpaste.. goober and lids being left off... What does that do to you. Signed Another riveted reader/blogger

Overhand is the way to go! Anytime I've had to use toilet paper that's been hung underhand, it always bunches up against the wall creating a big mess!

underhand is wrong I hate it. I always fix the toilet paper and paper towels at work to be over-hand. It is the proper way to do it and that is how I was always taught by my mother to do it. May sound crazy but is is irritating if hung the wrong way.

I can't argue with you there. I also hang it overhand. If the roll is a new one and you hang it underhand, the paper may rub against the wall, yuck. Besides if you have a pattern on it, it would be upside down if you hang it underhand. So there, even the manufactors agree.
