Goodbye

This is my final blog, on my final weekend at KWTX.

In five days I will be leaving KWTX.

I have taken another job and will be moving to San Antonio to take over as the Weekend Anchor at KENS-TV.

I'm not from Central Texas, however, this area feels like home to me and it will be hard to leave in a few days.

I met my wife here, got married here, said "goodbye" to my Chocolate Lab Maggie here and made many friends along the way.

The decision to lave this area has not been an easy one, but it is the right one. The move closes one chapter of my life and opens another for my wife and me.

Next weekend, a good friend of mine, Stephanie Franks, will take over on the weekend desk. She is an enormously talented journalist who I am confident will do a great job.

As some of you may know, I came to KWTX in March of 2002 as a reporter in the Bell County Bureau. With only 10 months television experience and even less knowledge of the Army I was thrown feet first into a world that gave me two choices, learn or get fired. Almost 7 years later, I'm glad I learned.

In closing I want to say "thank you" to all the viewers who have welcomed me into their homes over the years.

It has been my deepest honor to bring you the news and to be a part of KWTX/News 10. Being a journalist is all that I have ever wanted to do in life and for this short time I have been able to live out that dream here in Central Texas.

Goodbye,

Chris Heath
