Orange Soda With Peanuts ... Seriously

Somehow this afternoon at work, the subject of putting peanuts into sodas came up. All the girls in the newsroom talked about how gross that sounds. I quickly stepped in and tried to speak up for this southern treat. I have always liked orange soda with peanuts in it. Not sure who came up with the idea, but it works, and I think it tastes great. Maybe I'm crazy.

For the record, several people in the newsroom tried the mix of sweetness and saltiness .. and they liked it. I think I converted a few of them.

What do all of you out there think? Am I crazy for putting peanuts in my soda? Do you do it? Also, if you have any crazy food combinations I'd love to hear about them.

Try Pepsi and milk. mmmmm. Find the right ratio for you, and you can enjoy a float without all of the drama and foam.

never heard of peanuts and pop but I like fries and wendy's frosty...same senation sweet and salty...outta try it

Peanuts & Pop! Yea it's the Best! When I was a kid we used to peanuts in Pepsi and I loved it. Later I switche to Coke. Sometime later I tried it in Dr. Pepper, when it was still being made with cane sugar. (It is still good in today's Dr. Pepper too.) As for other concoctions... When I was in Germany they served Pom Frits mit Sempf - French Fries with Mustard. Gross I thought, until I tried it. Now my fries get equal time with the ketchup and mustard packets.

I've definitely had peanuts in Coke, but not in orange soda.. One of my favorite things is popcorn with mustard.. Tried it??

Don't you remember (or have heard of) that Barbara Mandrell song "I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool." There's a line about slipping peanuts in my Coke. I asked my Mom and she said that was a really cool thing to do back in the day.

I don't think I could go the orange soda, but now coke and peanuts are good stuff! I had a teacher back in the late 70's who had this combo often. I mentioned it just the other day to my son in law and he thought it sounded awful. He has never given it a try so he does not know what he is missing.

When I was growing up, it was always a treat to get a coke, and put peanuts in it. Haven't done that in a long time, but it sure sounds good! Maybe I will try it with orange soda this time:-)
