Days until my wedding: 100
Now that I am 3 and a half weeks into "Operation Get Back Into Shape" I can say something I haven't been able to say in years: "I enjoy going to the gym." I have lost 17 pounds so far, and I feel as good as I have in a VERY long time. That said, I know that I still have a lot of work ahead of me.
My trainer at WRS Athletic Club, Gretchen Chiles, tells me that losing 20 pounds or so quickly for me won't be a big surprise because I haven't worked out and ate well in a long time. But the other day she warned me that at some point I might hit a plateau. Meaning the weight won't continue to melt off as easily as it is right now. So when and if I hit that plateau, she thinks she'll have to tweak my diet and exercise habits. But for now at least, I can enjoy seeing a smaller number each time I step on the scales.
As for my workouts, I am going to the gym 5 or 6 times a week. Usually I do straight cardio three days a week, and a mix of lifting and cardio the other three days. Gretchen loves to mix things up. I haven't gone through the same workout twice yet.
My diet is still a work in progress. For the most part, I'm eating well. But believe it or not, I don't do a good enough job of eating enough. Gretchen wants me to snack more at work. So I bought some protein bars and almonds to munch on mid-day. That way I'm not starving when dinner rolls around.
That's all for now .. hopefully I'll have another positive report this time next week!
