Over the past year I've asked you the reader/viewer who the best high school athletes are in football and basketball from this area. I got a TON of responses. I had a lot of fun learning about the gridiron and hoops stars who played before my time in Central Texas.
So now, I want to know who the best high school baseball and softball players are of all time from Central Texas? Let me know by leaving a comment. I might even use it during one of my 5:00 p.m. sportscasts.
Here are best high school and softball players I've seen during my seven years in Central Texas:
Raygan Feight, Bosqueville - Raygan is simply put, the best high school softball player I have ever seen in person. She was great in the field and she could hit. She could also hit for power as she proved when she hit a game winning grand slam in the state championship game (how's that for clutch). She now stars for the UT softball team.
Todd Glaesmann, Midway - Todd is one of the best all-around athletes I've seen in this area. He could have played college football if he had chosen too, he was that good. But baseball is his love, and it showed on the field. He has a smooth swing, and has a great frame. I wouldn't be shocked if we see Glaesmann playing in the big leagues in a few years.
Taylor Jungmann, Rogers - Taylor throws the ball hard. Like crazy hard. I saw it in person when he pitched for the Eagles in the state tournament a few years ago. He threw so hard that up in the Dell Diamond pressbox you could hear the catcher's mitt make a loud "pop" when he hurled in his fastballs. Taylor is going to be a very rich man after next year's MLB Draft.
So what do you think, are these some of the best you've seen? Let me know who I'm leaving out.
