I liked the Cowboys selection of Tyron Smith with the 9th overall pick in the first round. Dallas had a need at tackle, and they addressed it by selecting the big and talented Smith. Side note - it's hard to believe that Smith is the first ever offensive lineman drafted in the first round by the Cowboys in the Jerry Jones era.
Also, Baylor had two players taken in the first round (Danny Watkins to Philly and Phil Taylor to Cleveland). Pretty impressive. I think it's pretty clear that Baylor is getting much better.. Have they arrived? No. Are they among the elite teams in the Big 12? No. But are they the relevant now? Yes.
Art Briles has been the head coach of BU for three years now, and he's already had three players taken in the first round. Pretty darn impressive.
