Parenting Help

Parenting help, not for me (still not married!), but for parents or guardians in Central Texas.  When I heard about the parenting classes offered by the Advocacy Center in Waco, I was very intrigued.  People always joke that children should come with a manual, and these classes aren't quite a manual but they are some extra help.  I really enjoyed getting to talk to Rev Kerry Burkley, the teacher of the classes, this week on NewsMakers.  The classes sound like they could be really helpful for people who are feeling a little overwhelmed by parenting, or anyone who wants to be a better parent.  That show will be on tomorrow (1/26) at 11 if you would like to hear Rev. Burkley talk about the classes!

I hope you have a great weekend!  I personally am looking forward to the Temple Symphony Orchestra Pops Concert.....

Bruce. I consider your comment the equivalent to people that gripe about the president, yet don't vote. You say you see many who should have gone to parenting class, but you are not a parent. I agree that there are terrible parents out there, but there are many more great parents who have never taken classes yet raised great children. I've got 2 children. One is in college. The other is a special needs child. Guess what? I raised two great kids without the assistance of any training. That's my two cents worth.

It is ironic that we all must have training to drive, to be a barber, even to work at a day care center, but to have a child, zero training. What a sence of humor we humans have. Children are our biggest contibution to the future. We teach them right and they usually do right. I don't have children as i was to busy going to other classes, but i see so many little ones who's parents should have gone to parenting class.
