My favorite album of all times has to be "The Road Goes on Forever" by Robert Earl Keen. The music on that album inspired me to get back into playing live music after 20 years of keeping my music to myself. Certainly Robert won't go down in history as the greatest vocalist in the world but his music is real, and his lyrics hit home like none other. He's a master story teller and I really appreciate that in an artist. I've enjoyed all of REK's albums but when my spirits need a little lifting "The Road Goes on Forever" goes into the number one slot on the disc changer. Now they're working on a documentary about the album and the man behind it. If this album has changed your life as it has mine, you can share your story by going to this website http://robertearlkeen.com/index.php?page=road

I've had the opportunity to interview REK on numerous occassions and have enjoyed some candid moments back stage at various events around the state. He's always a pleasure to talk to and very entertaining. In my opinion history will know REK as one of the greatest songwriters of his generation, and a darned fine person too. So whose you're favorite? How has music changed your life?

Mr. Keen did it well, but I always thought that The Highwaymen did the song far greater justice, outstanding song.

"Small Change" by Tom Waits has been my favorite since it  came out in the late 70's. Growing up in the era of punk, it still holds it's own. When I here it, there is no time frame to place it in. Just as fresh today as it was then.

I have too been a fan of REK, and after reading your story, I am making a road trip with my wife and friends to Helotes to hear him once again.

Robert Earl Keen is a wonderful singer/songwriter and his music also lifts me up, but I must say the Jerry Jeff Walker rates right up there with him or maybe even higher!!!! JJW's music is uplifting and somewhat somber also...it makes you think about your life and the direction you are going...I have seen JJW on several occasions over the years and would like to meet him sometime...He is truly a magnificent singer/songwriter and hopefully one day will receive the recognition he so deserves from the music academy....Keep singing Gordon for it is song that lifts the soul to new heights!!!!!
