A look back at the weather of June, 2010!

With above average temperatures, and muggy sauna like conditions for most of the month, June 2010 felt more like the middle of summer than the start of it! While heat and humidity sum up most of the month, we did have a few strong rain events. On June 9th, a daily rainfall record was broken with 3.91 inches, and just to the northeast of Waco in Hill and Limestone counties over 7 inches of rain fell. At the end of the month scattered showers covered most of Central Texas as the first Atlantic Hurricane, Hurricane Alex, helped bring in an abundance of moisture to Texas.

Now I said June 2010 could mostly be summed up by the hot and humid conditions, well we also broke a few records to prove that...

As you can see, that is back to back June's with average temperatures that rank in the top ten highest. One more interesting note... When Alex became a Hurricane on the evening of June 29, it was the first Atlantic Hurricane in June since 1995. A sign for an active tropical season? Well the folks at the National Hurricane Center did predict this to be a very active tropical season, so we will have to see!
