Here's another set of your e-mails culled recently from my In-Box:
Casandra from Troy e-mailed the following:
Is it standard procedure for you to ALWAYS wait until the best part of the program I am watching to interrupt with the same tired message....."Severe storms are coming!" Do people really CARE about a little thunder and lightning? This is Texas after all. We live here...we know it's going to storm once in a while!! Give us a break!!!!
Anonymous from Centerville (Leon county) e-mailed the following:
You, Lon, Keith and Brady always stand RIGHT over our area near I-45 when doing the weather. Lon is the worst! He ONLY moves to the other side when the long range forecast comes on. How about shifting to the left of screen more often so we can see OUR area. We are important out to the east too!!!
The Carssona family of Temple e-mailed the following:
Our daughter, a second grader, ran into the kitchen this afternoon exclaiming: "Rusty gave me THIS today and WE'VE GOT TO TALK!" She was proudly holding up her PROJECT TORNADO booklet and insisted that BEFORE supper - we sit down as a family and create a safety plan. Now her big brother (a 7th grader) didn't like the idea of his little sister "preaching" to us all, but gave in and joined in the family meeting. I just want you and Channel 10 to know that YOU are making a HUGE impact on our children and as a Mom - I am thrilled that you take the time to do so. She was beaming when telling us you actually answered her question at school today. Big kudos Rusty Garrett for your influence on the lives of children throughout our area!!
Jesse of Waco left the following voice mail message:
I really want to thank your team, Mr. Garrett, for advising us about Friday's storms. The hail was small here on the south side of town but the thunder was deafening. We always watch you because the other stations always make it sound like the "end of the world" is upon us and you stay calm. This keeps us calm and feeling like a real friend is watching out for us. I have one suggestion. Could you slow down the crawling words at the bottom of the screen. Some of us have a hard time reading it from across the living room.
Sandra of Crawford e-mailed the following:
Dear Rusty, I really liked the story that ran on the news about your tornado program. It was so wonderful the way you hugged the little children as they lined up to meet and greet you. What a "hero" you are to the little ones in our area! The teacher that talked in the story said it best that you really make the lessons come to life. I would like to meet you someday! Please never leave us.
"Captain32" of Waco e-mailed the following:
Mr. Garrett, I wish you would stop telling people to evacuate mobile homes every time we have a bad storm in the area. As a person who feeds his family from selling manufactured housing in our area, you should know that today's mobile homes are more solidly built than those in year's past and are an affordable alternative to those with limited income. I've seen many photos of destroyed foundation built homes too! You are adding to an already tough housing economy with your scare tactics!!
Joyce from Belton e-mailed the following:
Could you please tell the noon weather man to stop saying "ooozing" when referring to the movement of weather fronts. He uses that too often and always says the same phrases like "thank goodness it's Friday" and always reminds us what day of the week it is. Can't he freshen up his phrases a little when doing the weather everyday? The others don't seem to be so habit driven in their words!
