Here's a few more lines and comments from the lips and keyboards of Central Texans:

Branden Bonge of Valley Mills writes:

Rusty, I have watched you all my life.  You are kind of a household name around my place.  I have lived in Valley Mills and West all my life, but I think the live feed (live internet streaming) is a great idea and hope you do it more frequently.  I will be watching, thanks for keeping us ahead of the storm.

Officer Thomas Pechal of Temple Fire Dept writes:

Mr. Garrett, Thanks for opening Killeen Safety Day with "Project Tornado".  Sorry that I was not able to see you this morning.  I was in the Special Events Building setting up the Fire Safety House presentations.  I believe your presentation sets the tone for the day with the students and teachers.  Thanks again for helping Central Texans stay prepared with Mother Nature.

Jaque' of Hillsboro writes:

I am so sick and tired of the constant barrage of weather interruptions on the tv channels!  Is it necessary to break into the shows every time a clap of thunder sounds?  I realize that tornadoes are dangerous and need to be covered, but must we hear about all the standard spring thunderstorms with a little wind and hail too?

John Malone of Waco writes:

Hi Rusty!!  For many years my wife has been your biggest fan.  She refuses to go to sleep at night until you have told her what the weather will be for the upcoming day.  She is an elementary school art teacher and is always wondering what to wear for the next day which is usually dictated by what you tell her the weather will be like.  In thinking of creative Mother's Day gift ideas, I thought about you!  I was at Uncle Dan's BBQ recently and saw an autographed picture of you on the wall.  Is there any way to get you to autograph a picture of yourself for my wife that the kids can give her for Mother's Day??  If so, her name is Karen and I could drop by KWTX to pick it up or you could mail it to my business address below.  Thanks for your consideration of this request and thanks for the terrific job you do in keeping us informed weatherwise.

J & L Stark writes:

Well, you did it again.  You broke into our show "Moonlight" and we missed some important story lines thanks to your needless and endless storm crap.   I wish we had another CBS station to turn to when you get the notion to see yourself constantly on the tube.  You know, not everyone is interested in storms four counties away!   Can't you just scroll words at the bottom or wait until the storms reach Waco?

Matt Kuehl of Waco writes:

Hey Rusty, I'm now a senior Baylor aviation science student, but I have been watching you for years and have been a weather nut for years as well.  Almost nothing excites me as much as a "moderate" risk from the Storm Prediction Center!  I always thought that Waco needed some live streaming web coverage from our local forecasters and was so pleased to see you guys go to it tonight.  I can't say how much fun it is to watch and monitor these storms.  Of course I hate to hear of injuries from dangerous storms.  I just want to say thank you so much to you and your crew there at News 10 for providing the expanded coverage of storms now via through the web!  Just make sure it doesn't get too bad where it cuts off the power or internet so I can watch!  Thanks alot!

Bob & Kelly Sloan of Killeen writes:

Rusty, Thanks for the New Great Technology (live web streaming on the internet).  It is another reason why KWTX is my channel for the latest in news and weather.  We know we can count on you and your team, ALWAYS...    AWESOME.

Jared Breitkreutz of Marlin writes:

Rusty, I am enjoying the streaming of all the stormy activity tonight.  How do you think this storm will affect my home, Marlin, Tx?

Shae Doty of Valley Mills writes:

Hi Rusty!   I just wanted to say this online live stream is great.  I have watched KWTX ever since you came to my school when I was in kindergarten.  I am now in college at MCC and still hold a high interest in weather forecasting.  I have always been interested in knowing the technology behind storm prediction.  I discovered the live stream tonight and have officially been watching for an hour and 15 minutes now.  This is more interesting than a TV program.  I always keep a close watch on the weather because I am quite frightened by storms.  I am from Valley Mills and I am curious as of now - does it look severe for me?   I am ready for bed but I know I can't sleep until the weather calms down.  Thank you and your weather team for always keeping a close eye over Central Texas.

David Samaniego writes:

Rusty, Keith and Brady...I like what you have made available to me. I am an "RV-er" and a local business owner.  This is great! (live streaming on the internet)  I know it must be a little hard on you all, but it's great for me.  I am a weather buff, and if I had the chance to study weather in college, I would have.  You guys are great together, I love to watch you over all the other weathermen in the area.  It seems as though you know more by the way you present it.  Thanks!  Keep up the great work.   I will be watching KWTX.COM for weather details beyond the regular news casts and break ins.  I have learned a new way to appreciate your work.  Keep it good!

My husband has a complaint about the weather map. It shows Dallas/Ft Worth. He thinks that it should be Ft Worth/Dallas on the weather map. We understand that it has been the other way for years and sounding better, but for new people in the area it should be correctly shown on the map.

Rusty I Think some of your critics are a bit hard on you, they need to realize that with out the warnings of storms in the area that the headline in the news paper the next day might read, WACO HIT BY F-5. no alerts given. Now what do those folks think. YES SIR RUSTY YOU JUST KEEP DOING IT THE WAY YOU HAVE IN THE PAST, ILL SLEEP BETTER FOR SURE. BEST WEATHERMAN IN TEXAS.

Would appreciate if you would consider expanding your weather coverage/forecasts to include detailed wind information for the full seven days. Hot weather is more bearable with wind, fishing is less bearable with wind and impossible with too much wind. Which lake to fish depends on wind direction speeds and shifts. Golfing is good either way. The decision go get out early or late is based on wind. The decision not to go at all takes wind into consideration. Thanks to digital, I no longer get channel 6/9. Channel 25 is iffy. Decrease the temperature detail and increase the wind detail Please.

This morning Sep 6 2008 at around 6:30 am a weather forecaster in studio spoke about hurricane Ike projected path and said he hope this cat 3 storm would go over and stay over more land in Cuba to weaken before going into the gulf, then onto US. This was a terrible thing to say for the people in Cuba. Think about what you say.

Rusty what happened to your forhead? I don't get to watch T.V. very often. When I do I try to watch KWTX news. I tried to watch your forcast, but everytime you turned and looked at the camera, I was looking at your forhead trying to figure out what happened, instead of listening to your forcast.Anyways I hope everything will be ok.

Yesterday I think we had a tornado around 2oclock....it destroyed our barn, picked up and carried a horse trailer several hundred feet, pieces of tin was wrapped in trees, light poles were bent in half...I know the weather said tree limb damage, but we had so much worse than that...was wondering if this was a tornado like it seems or I've heard of micro burst..that don't qualify as tornados.....

Rusty, You are not only a local weatherman but a family friend. A few days last week you had not been on and my children ages 10 and 7 were worried about you :) Just before the news the kids run in to tell us "Hurry turn the channel, Rusty's on"!! We also had moved away for a short time and the kids would not watch the weather with us,for they said, "It's not Rusty Garrett"! Thank you for blessing our family with your trusting weather predictions and humor!!! We all love you Rusty, Keep up the good work!!!!

Francis, Looks like your cut and paste job ran out of room. I think criticism of FEMA is low because they are actually doing a heckuva job now.

Rusty, is there anywhere on your website that shows current burn ban status on central Texas counties?

Just wondering... Where are all of the Hollywood celebrities holding telethons asking for help in restoring Iowa and helping the folks affected by the floods? Where is all the media asking the tough questions about why the federal government hasn't solved the problem? Asking where the FEMA trucks (and trailers) are? Why isn't the Federal Government relocating Iowa people to free hotels in Chicago? When will Spike Lee say that the Federal Government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines? Where are Sean Penn and the Dixie Chicks? Where are all the looters stealing high-end tennis shoes and big screen television sets? When will we hear Governor Chet Culver say that he wants to rebuild a "vanilla" Iowa, because that's the way God wants it? Where is the hysterical 24/7 media coverage complete with reports of cannibalism? Where are the people declaring that George Bush hates white, rural people? How come in 2 weeks, you will n,

congratulations on your marriage. and keep up the great job with the weather.
  • by John Dickey Location: Waco on Jun 15, 2008 at 11:57 AM
Congratulations to you, Rusty, and your new bride Anne! We hope that you will have a long and happy marriage! My wife, Myra, and I were married in the same church 37 years ago, so I guess it must be a good place to get married! Odd though, that no one showed up wearing their RUSTY'S BACKYARD BAR-B-QUE t-shirts. Had we known in time, you bet that the whole Dickey family would have been there.. and on the FRONT ROW! God bless you and your new bride!
