Rusty, we are growing weary of you weathermen promising rain in your forecasts and then watching the day come and go without a drop at our place!   It seems like it “pops up” all around us sometimes, yet we get left holding the “dry” bag!   How about delivering some down highway 77??

Why does your web site go by the name of “web channel”?   Please tell me what the difference is between a “web site” and a “web channel”.   No one else calls theirs that!

Thank you, Rusty Garrett, for being so kind!   My nine year old daughter and I were at Wal-Mart last Saturday when she spotted you and exclaimed in a rather loud voice…”It’s him Momma!”   I told her to go up and say hi and when she did you were so patient and kind to her.   You made her feel like a million bucks and I know that you are probably hounded a lot when you are out in public.  Several others nearby in the store overheard the conversation and they too started talking to you.  I am sorry for starting something!   Well, I just wanted you to know that speaking from a parent’s point of view, that sure goes a long way and your genuine kindness shows in public as well as on our tv.

Tonight on the news you talked about skin cancer surgery you had.   You were so honest about the subject and many of us were wondering what happened to your forehead recently.   Thanks for not keeping us wondering.   Thanks also for reminding everyone to protect themselves from sunburns.  We are praying that you are okay.   We would sure be unhappy if anything happened to our favorite TV weatherman!

I saw the story about how the economy may affect people's ability to give to charity this holiday season. I want to raise awareness about how people can still contribute to charity by shopping online. This is an opportunity to help the economy, small businesses and local charities. Positively Faithful Gifts presents this opportunity. www.positivelyfaithfulgifts.com It also features a free advertising exchange for online small business entreprenuers. It's all about helping others as many new online businesses are also struggling with advertising expenses. Spreading the word is essential so everyone may benefit this holiday season. Shopping online and giving go hand in hand. People can feel good about where they shop online this holiday season! Thank You And Happy Holidays! Misty Tackett

Allie....it's origin is "nautical" ....To get a sense of the original meaning of the phrase we need to understand the nautical terms 'by' and 'large'. 'Large' is easier, so we'll start there. When the wind is blowing from some compass point behind a ship's direction of travel then it is said to be 'large'. Sailors have used this term for centuries. 'By' is a rather more difficult concept for landlubbers like me. In simplified terms it means 'in the general direction of'. Sailors would say to be 'by the wind' is to face into the wind or within six compass points of it. The earliest known reference to 'by and large' in print is from Samuel Sturmy, in The Mariners Magazine, 1669: "Thus you see the ship handled in fair weather and foul, by and large." "When the wind came larger we waied anchor and set saile."

Hello Rusty... It looks like Hurricane Ike is going to be a real problem for Central Texas. I have a feeling that it will reach Cat 3 or 4 by the time it slams into the Gulf Coast of Texas there it will somewhat stall over Central Texas, 10 miles South of Lampasas to be exact. There will be severe flooding with 20 inches of rainfall in areas of Central Texas. What are the chances of this senario coming true?
