For those of you that were looking for my Top 10 a week ago, I apologize for not posting my college poll up, as I was out of commission.
In an attempt to relive my glory days of Florida State intramural flag football, I tore my left knee up in the first ever Turkey Bowl in Waco. It wasn't fun missing the conclusion of the game, nor was it fun sitting in an ER for half of Thanksgiving Day. A successful surgery followed this past Wednesday, and since I've been laid up at the house, with my knee wrapped and iced down, as well as being pumped full of medication.
Needless to say, I've had some time on my hands to watch some college football. Over the past two weeks, one thing has been made clear to me: LSU is the best team in the nation. One thing that isn't clear to me: who is the second best team in the country? Most say Alabama, yet most feel Oklahoma State deserves a shot at the Bayou Bengals in the BCS title game.
My answer, whenever there is B(C)S controversy, use the BCS standings as playoff seedings - take the top 8 and have them play through a playoff. In year where we don't know who should be the #2 team to take on the best team in the country, this is the only way to settle this dispute.
I know this is the best system we have in place at the moment, but sooner or later, logic has to take over, and a playoff system has to be instituted. (Then again, we're also dealing with a sport that has gotten rid of geographical rivalries in order to make the most TV money).
Hopefully, I can garner some support, especially since I'm hurt (literally) right now! I'll unveil the winner of my mythical playoff in my final Top 10 blog after the national championship.
