Remember the scramble everyone had to do to see the Cowboys and Packers last year? And the near scramble with the final game of the season between New York and New England? Well if the NFL Network and ESPN have anything to do with it, those issues will be a problem of the past.
According to sources who don't want to identify themselves, both networks are in talks about a partnership for football games. A possible deal could end a battle between the NFL, its cable channel, and cable companies around the country. The NFL Network wants carriage on cable systems equal to stations such as ESPN, and the cable companies say that the NFL is asking them for too much money for programming.
While no one is officially saying anything, both camps are saything they are talking to the other about various and mutual projects. In other words, we're not saying anything that could cost us our jobs.
The NFL Network is currently carried on DirecTV, some local cable systems such as Grande, and some Sprint phones. However, it is not on other cable providers like Time Warner. NFL Network will again show live games on the network this year.
