Have you ever wondered what is exactly in your water? Well the water that the astronauts aboard the International Space Station are now drinking started out as something little unexpected! In November NASA delivered a Water Recovery System to the ISS. This system processes urine and sweat into water that is safe to drink. I have always wanted to be an astronaut since I was a little kid, but I don't know how excited I would be about drinking recycled urine while in space! Here is a link to the full story from NASA |

Guess you do what you gotta do. Waco water will always be nasty. It always has been awful. Can't say I would drink any urine but if it came down to needing fluid I suppose a person will do what ever there is to do to survive. Posted by: robert i surprised that the hippies,PETA, and treehuggers are not jumping on this idea....after all its 100% recycled. Posted by: gary Location: clifton Just remember almost every drop of water you drink, some fish or animal has gone potty in. Posted by: Super man Location: Leroy I wonder how that’s going to taste.Nasty or pure Posted by: Tracey Location: Goldthwaite I visited the NASA space center, in Houston, with my son a few years ago and found it very interesting. This is where I first learned of the recycling process for the drinking water. I found it to be very fascinating; however, I'm not sure I could drink it either. I've also heard of people using their own urine as a means of survival, so if the astronauts have the ability to drink it as a recycled product then I would consider them very hi-tech. Way to go NASA! Posted by: Jean Location: Temple Why did I read this? Posted by: Someone Location: Near-Here The fluid wouldn't be any worse than Lake Waco water or Brazos/Bosque river water downsream. It's just the thought I do not like!! Now if it were distilled it would be different. Posted by: Scooper Location: Centeral TX I wonder if it would meet the standards for Lake Waco water? Posted by: Riley Location: Woodway The taste has a little wang to it! Posted by: Citizen Location: Texas Urine is sterile when it leaves it's source, barring any infections. |
