FT HOOD (June 30, 2010) -- It isn't just the soldiers that serve our country, but also their children and families.
Peggy Stamper, the Outreach Services Coordinator for Child, Youth and School Services at Fort Hood says, "sometimes our children are assumed to be just fine, and they are resilient kids. Military kids, there's just nobody more resilient, but we can't forget deployments and separations have an impact on them.
As part of her job, Stamper makes sure military kids don't get overlooked in the business of war.
Mouneigh Pyatt, a staff member with Child, Youth and School Services says of Stamper, "that is of the upmost importance to her, that we are making this goal of accomadating the soldiers and their children.
The work with Child, Youth and School Services is actually a second career of service for Stamper.
She spent 20 years on active duty, before working on the civilian side of the army for the last 15 years.
Stamper credits her team for a lot of her current success with soldiers families.
"that's what allows me to be a good boss. I think because, if I do anything, it's my willingness to let them grow and follow their own paths," says Stamper.
Congratulations to Peggy Stamper, this month's News Ten Boss of the Month.
