(October 3, 2006)—A major power outage left residents throughout the Brazos Valley without electrical service Tuesday evening.

The problem was affecting Bryan-College Station and Texas A&M University, Conroe, Snook, Robertson County, Grimes County and parts of Caldwell County.

The outage initially appears to have been the result of what an Electric Reliability Council of Texas spokeswoman described as an “unexplained mechanical failure.

Dottie Roark told News Ten ERCOT is monitoring the outage, but could not say how many customers may be affected or how long it may take to restore service.
