Sen. Hutchison: Breast Cancer ResearchStamp Extension Awaits President’s Signature

Breast Cancer Cells Multiply When Exposed To Extracts Of Catfish Caught In Polluted Waters

Exposing estrogen-sensitive breast cancer cells to extracts of channel catfish caught in areas with heavy sewer and industrial waste causes the cells to multiply, according to a University of Pittsburgh study presented at the annual meeting of the American Public Health Association in Washington, D.C. The abstract, number 159141, was presented at a special session on "Contaminants in Freshwater Fish: Toxicity, Sources and Risk Communication." (Full Story)

Midway Students Sell Cookies for Komen Race Save Email Print

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure received $150 from students who are members of the Midway I-S-D Diversified Career Preparation Club.
The students sold cookies to teachers and other students to raise the money. The 50 plus members of the group baked more than 500 cookies during the month of October.

News 10 is a media sponsor for Race For The Cure which will be held May 10th beginning at Indian Spring Park in Waco. The goal is to have more than 10,000 participants from all over Central Texas in the 2008 Race.

Susan G. Komen Foundation raises money to create awareness of breast cancer and help find a cure.
