New Jersey Governor Calls NRA Ad “Reprehensible”

Print

TRENTON, N.J. (January 18, 2013)--New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie says it is "reprehensible" for the National Rifle Association to run an ad that pulls President Barack Obama's daughters into the gun-control debate.

Christie on Thursday criticized the ad, which accused the president of being a hypocrite for allowing Secret Service agents to protect his two daughters, but not embracing the NRA’s call for armed guards at all schools.

Christie said children of public figures should be off-limits to political attacks.

The Republican governor also sided with the Democratic president when Mr. Obama went to New Jersey to tour storm damaged areas in October.

Christie's praise of the president six days before the election drew sharp criticism from some Republicans members, who accused Christie of helping to tip a close election to Mr. Obama.
