WASHINGTON (November 1, 2009)--Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said Sunday deficits are definitely too high, but said the priorities now are restoring economic growth and creating jobs.

Geithner told NBC's "Meet the Press" that deficits will have to be reduced as growth recovers.

Asked whether taxes will be raised, Geithner says President Barack Obama is going to have to make some hard choices and doesn't want to add to the burden of people making less than $250,000 a year.

Geithner says the administration is not at the point where it has to decide how it will reduce deficits because it's still focused on helping the economy recover and grow.

Citizen, I am an Obama supporter and I found your statement to be less than tasteful. I don't recall Obama being raised in a hood, perchance you were with a comment like that. The deficit is too high, it has been for quite some time now and this will need to be addressed poste haste. I find it sick that you are so intensley defined by your hate for your president that you almost appear to relish the fact that there is a deficit issue and you apparantly feel Obama created it. It took some time to create the deficit , it will most certainly take time to chip away at it.
