WASHINGTON (February 6, 2010)--"Snowmageddon" is what President Barack Obama calls the storm that has shut down Washington.

His motorcade made it a few blocks through deserted Washington streets so he could speak at the Democratic National Committee's winter meeting Saturday.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Obama thanked activists for their willingness to brave the blizzard.

Snow and police blocked the streets around the hotel where the meeting was held ahead of Mr. Obama’s arrival.

California Rep. Mike Honda was delayed on the slow-running subway.

Other officials who stumbled into the hotel were caked in snow and ice.

Mr. Obama said he saw a sign that said "Californians for Obama" and he joked, "You guys aren't used to this."

Party Chairman Tim Kaine, said, "it's like an April day in Chicago," Mr. Obama's hometown.

Pauline in Waco...Don't feel disheartened. These people are obviously negative by nature. Thank goodness that President Obama is made of stronger stuff. Moving on :)
