BALTIMORE (January 29, 2010)--President Barack Obama told House Republicans Friday major elements of the health care reform bills approved by the U.S. House and U.S. Senate were based on proposals from former lawmakers in the political middle, including one plan from Republicans Bob Dole and Howard Baker as well as Democrat Tom Daschle.

“That's not a radical bunch, but if you were to listen to the debate ... you'd think this was some Bolshevik plot," he said.

He criticized the Republicans for their attacks and said their strategy doesn't give them any room to negotiate.

The 1917 revolution in Russia brought the Bolsheviks to power.

Vladimir Lenin and Josef Stalin were among the leaders.

Earlier, Mr. Obama told the congressional Republicans it's time work more closely together to solve the country's problems.

Mr. Obama said he welcomes a chance to bridge the political divide that has characterized much of his first year in office.

"I don't believe that the American people want us to focus on our job security. They want us to focus on their job security," he said in a remark that drew applause.

Mr. Obama said he couldn't understand why Republicans so fiercely opposed his initial tax cuts and said he doesn't want "Washington to continue to be so Washington-like."

Mr. Obama said he wants "a constructive debate."

Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance company made a profit of $4.7 BILLION DOLLARS last year, even though they lost 1.4 million customers. BCBS just announced an individual policy premium increase of 39 PERCENT. The Obama adminstration has demanded answers. Congress has opened an investigation. BCBS has refused to say why the outrageous increase & said there could be another increase this year without warning. Had enough of Republican/Teabagger obstruction of healthcare reform yet?

Angry American, I don't know what you're getting at. I think liberalism and socialism are destroying the country, as I take it you do too. So I think we see the same side of the coin. However, overzealousness hurts your cause when you imply or insinuate physical harm to your opponent or foe. Destroy their message, yes. Destroy their agendas, yes. Be passionate for conservative causes, yes. Even make others angry (as I like to yank chains myself). But to wish physical harm or detriment on someone strictly because of their politics is not a line I wish to cross.
