IRVING (September 24, 2012)--Former President George W. Bush kicked off a golf tournament Monday for wounded members of the U.S. military.

Bush said Monday morning that the two-day Warrior Open in the Dallas suburb of Irving is not only a chance to witness good golf, but also "a celebration of patriotism, courage and sacrifice."

Twenty-two military members wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan are participating in the golf tournament Bush is hosting.

The tournament is part of the George W. Bush Institute's Military Service Initiative.

The policy institute is part of the George W. Bush Presidential Center, which is set to open in the spring and will include Bush's presidential library and museum.

Bush and former first lady Laura Bush moved to Dallas when he left office in 2009.
