WASHINGTON (January 18, 2013)--The GOP-controlled House will vote next week to permit the government to borrow more money to meets its obligations, a Republican official said Friday.
Full details aren't settled yet, but the move is aimed at giving the government about three more months of borrowing authority beyond a deadline expected to hit as early as mid-February.
The House is hoping to force the Senate to approve a budget resolution by making pay for members of Congress conditional on passage of a budget.
