AUSTIN (January 14, 2014) Republican Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said Tuesday he has raised more than $11.5 million in his bid to become governor.
Abbott's campaign reported Tuesday that it had $27 million in cash on hand for a likely race against Democrat Wendy Davis.
Davis reported raising $12 million in the last six months.
Texas is the nation's second most populous and largest state, with 20 media markets.
The 2014 campaign is expected to cost each candidate about $40 million.
