McLennan County Budget Office Abolished

By: John Carroll Email

WACO (January 8, 2013)—McLennan County Commissioners voted 4-1 Tuesday to abolished the County Budget Office in a move that left budget officer Adam Harry and his assistant without jobs.

County Auditor Stan Chambers will take over the responsibilities of the budget office, which was created in 2010 to oversee the county’s budget process.

Chambers’ office is under the supervision of the county’s state district judges and Commissioner Kelly Snell, who voted against the proposal, said he’s concerned that could mean commissioners won’t be properly informed on some budget issues.

Snell wanted to keep the budget office to focus full time on the county’s budget.
