ANCHORAGE, Alaska (July 10, 2013)—Former Alaska Gov. and 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, says she’s considered running for the seat held by Democratic U.S. Sen. Mark Begich, but says she would like to see new candidates enter the race.
Responding to a question from Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity, Palin said Tuesday she's considered a run because people have asked her to.
She added she's waiting to see who will enter the race and hoping there "will be some new blood, new energy" from the GOP candidate pool.
She recently returned to Fox News as a paid commentator.
Two Republicans have entered the 2014 race so far, Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell and Joe Miller.
Miller won the 2010 GOP primary against Sen. Lisa Murkowski only to lose to her in the general election as she mounted a historic write-in campaign.
