AUSTIN (March 26, 2013)--Gov. Rick Perry led a rally in support of traditional values Tuesday at the Texas Capitol.
The rally was held on the same day the Supreme Court heard a challenge to California's ban on same-sex marriage.
About 200 conservatives who oppose abortion, gay rights and premarital sex gathered at noon on Tuesday to show their support for more laws based on Christian beliefs.
The event was organized by a group called "Texas Values."
Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and other Republican leaders spoke at the rally.
The group says it wants to limit no-fault divorce, promote abstinence education and protect the state's Christian heritage.
Perry, who prides himself on his social conservatism, said he wants to ban abortion and opposes gay marriage.
The Legislature is considering several anti-abortion bills this year.
