COLUMBIA, S.C. (August 6, 2012)—U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, returns to South Carolina Monday as part of a fundraising effort for state Sen. Tom Davis.

Paul is expected to participate in an event for the Republican on Monday night in Columbia.

The Texas congressman was in South Carolina just before the state's GOP presidential primary in January to pick up an endorsement from Davis, a Beaufort lawmaker who is popular with tea party activists.

Davis served as chief of staff to former Republican Gov. Mark Sanford and is considered a vocal fiscal conservative.

Paul is retiring from Congress after this November's elections.
