Texas Candidate: Motorists Should Be Allowed To Eat Roadkill

SAN ANTONIO (February 21, 2014) Republican Texas House candidate Tink Nathan, 72, says he thinks it should be legal for motorists to gather and consume roadkill.

Gathering roadkill in Texas is now a misdemeanor offense, but Nathan says it’s legal in other states.

Nathan is among the candidates hoping to succeed longtime District 53 state Rep. Harvey Hilderbran in a sprawling district that extends from northwest of San Antonio to the border.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department spokesman Tom Harvey says the agency has no stance on the idea, but said, "There are obvious public health and safety issues."
