Texas Senator Plans A Hunting Trip

DES MOINES, Iowa (August 30, 2013)--U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas plans to hunt pheasant with Iowa Congressman Steve King during a trip to the state in October, spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said.

Frazier wrote in an e-mail Friday that the senator will hunt with King and was "honored to have received the invite."

The trip is planned for Oct. 26 near the northwest Iowa city of Akron.

Cruz will speak the day before at a GOP event in Des Moines.

King, a Republican, is among the most conservative House members. He's known for making highly charged comments, such as his much-criticized statement in July that many immigrants in the country illegally are drug runners.

King hosted candidates for similar hunting events before the 2012 caucuses.
