Texas state Rep. Ron Reynolds, D-Missouri City (File)
AUSTIN (March 25, 2013)--Texas state Rep. Ron Reynolds, D-Missouri City, has been charged with illegally soliciting court cases for the second time in the past year, prosecutors said Monday.
Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon said Monday that Reynolds is charged with barratry, which is more commonly described as "ambulance chasing."
Ligon said Reynolds was aware of the charges and was driving from Austin toward his home district.
At Reynolds' office in the Capitol, an aide who declined to give her name said the office had no immediate comment.
Reynolds, 39, is an attorney who faced similar charges in Harris County last year.
Those charges were later dropped.
Ligon said his investigation is unrelated to that case.
Ligon said the ringleader of the scheme was the owner of a chiropractic clinic.
