AUSTIN (May 17, 2013)--Veteran House Democrat Rep. Harold Dutton of Houston is leading a mini revolt against the state Senate, saying he will use a parliamentary tactic to temporarily halt every local bill from the upper chamber because it's moving too slowly.
Dutton said a bill he's sponsoring that was placed on the local calendar where measures generally face no opposition is stuck in the Senate.
In response, he said he will ensure no local Senate bills pass the House on Friday.
Dutton said the Senate is being disrespectful and "they need to be scared of somebody in this house."
He first threatened to storm over to the Senate and demand action. But instead Dutton said he'd kill all local Senate bills, at least temporarily.
The House gave Dutton a standing ovation.
