MIAMI (September 1, 2010)--Defeated Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Greene is suing two Florida newspapers for libel over articles Greene claims cost him votes.
The billionaire is seeking $500 million in damages from the St. Petersburg Times, The Miami Herald and reporters and editors in the lawsuit, which was filed Wednesday in Miami.
Greene said the papers published knowingly false stories and an editorial implicating him in a California mortgage fraud case.
Another story involving boxer Mike Tyson detailed allegations of illegal drug use aboard Greene's yacht, which Greene also says is false.
Greene said the stories were instrumental in his loss in the Democratic Senate primary last week.
Top editors at the newspapers declined immediate comment.

Well, look no further than your tv for Mr. Edwards attacks. Bill Flores didn't even work for Baker Hughes when all the layoffs took place. I hope Flores goes after Edwards too!
Reply to Citizen: AMEN, Most of these people sound like small children when it dosn't go their way.
WOW!!!!! Suing for 500 million???? Apparently being a Senator must pay really well and include some great fringe benefits. For a job that last 6 years that equals out to 83 million a year. But this is typical of all dumbacrats whenever they don't get there way it is always someone elses fault and let's take it to court. I can't wait to see what Mr. Edwards will pull when he loses in November.
